How to Register with Schedule Builder

Here are some simple steps to help you successfully register in your courses using Schedule Builder.

We'd recommend watching our video tutorials to learn how to use Schedule Builder and register, or you can also follow the steps below:

Step 1

Use your First Year Degree Guide, Degree Navigator or meet with an academic advisor to ensure that you've picked the right courses for your program.

Step 2

Log into your Student Centre with your eID and password. Click on the "Schedule Builder" button. If you cannot log in successfully to your Student Centre or Schedule Builder, please contact IT support at 403.220.5555 or email

Step 3

Once in the Schedule Builder tool, enter your courses by term to generate schedule options. You can save options to your favourites to retrieve later or load your shopping cart.

If the class is full but has a wait list, you may choose to add yourself to the wait list when you are ready to register. Check the course details on your results panel for more information about each section including seats available, wait list seats and course restrictions.

Please note that having a course in your favourites or in your shopping cart does not guarantee registration in that class.

Step 4

To register for a term, click on the "Get this Schedule" button at the bottom of your "Results" panel to go to the registration page. If you are eligible to enroll in courses you'll see the option to "enroll". If you're not eligible, you'll only see the option "add to cart".

Before you enroll review the information displayed, check that these are the courses you want to register in, that the term is correct and that you meet the requirements of the class.

Step 5

Click on the "Do Actions" button to register, at this point Schedule Builder will verify that you meet all the required registration criteria for your selected courses.

Check your confirmation screen. If you see "enrolled" beside a course you've successfully enrolled and a seat is secured for you.

Error messages will appear on the right for courses that you are not eligible for (ie. If you do not meet the pre-requisites, restrictions, the course is full, etc). Go back by clicking “Return to Select Courses” to amend your course selections or choose your second choice schedule.

Step 6

To view the results of your registration, or to make changes to existing courses you're enrolled in, return to your Student Centre. When done, sign out of both your Student Centre, and your MyUofC portal.
