Presented: November 18, 2020
Biography
21 years in animal welfare is a long time! Kim Hessel, Founder of Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue had no idea then where a vague idea of trying to help animals in her community would lead. From humble beginnings in her own small home in 1999, to a kennel operation on 7 acres just south of High River, her belief that animals deserve respect, kindness, care and responsibility haven’t wavered. Born and raised in St. Lambert, Quebec, Kim attended Couvent Sacre-Coeur in Montreal, and it’s a family joke that her brothers got all the brains while Kim got all the empathy! Andrew is a renowned geneticist and molecular biologist in the US, while Brett is a doctor in Northern Alberta. She likes to think a bit of their smarts did rub off!
