We're entering an exciting phase at the University of Calgary. Our institutional strategic plan, Ahead of Tomorrow, will guide our journey over the next seven years. In alignment with this renewed direction, Student and Enrolment Services (SES) is embarking on a transformative path, crafting a dynamic three-year strategic plan rooted in collaboration, feedback, and inclusivity.

This strategic plan isn't just a document to gather dust; it's our shared roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader university plans and fostering a future-focused SES that places students at the core of our mission. With an unwavering commitment to student support and well-being, our plan provides clear direction, optimizes resources, and enables us to meticulously track our progress towards key milestones, all with a relentless dedication to enhancing the overall student experience in their academic journey.

Through extensive consultation and engagement, their perspectives will significantly inform how we define and align the critical elements that guide our collective journey:

Vision

The future-focused declaration of our purpose and aspirations. What we want SES to become.​

Mission

Communicates our reason for being, and how we will serve SES stakeholders. Who we are and what we value. ​

Values

Our informal values are the sum of our approaches and aspirations as a community. Often, over time, informal values are enshrined as formal values and provided institutional support and recognition.​

Goals

Strategic goals are the long-term objectives of SES, and operational goals are the daily milestones that need to be reached to achieve them. When setting strategic goals, think of our values and long-term vision.​

Tactics

While strategy is the action plan that takes you where you want to go, the tactics are the individual steps and actions that will get you there​.

We’re ready to hit the ground running in the collaborative development of the SES Strategic Plan. 

The plan (and corresponding stakeholder engagement) will be developed over five phases, with significant opportunities for ongoing feedback and inclusive dialogue throughout.
