About Scholars Academy
The Scholars Academy strives to enhance the academic and professional development of outstanding undergraduate students.
The Idea
Always with an eye to the future, the University of Calgary's Chancellor Emeritus, Joanne Cuthbertson, has played an instrumental part in the development of the Scholars Academy. As a major financial contributor and visionary, much of the program is owed to her for its development.
What Cuthbertson has helped create is a community of support for top students. Surrounded by equally ambitious peers, our students will find inspiration in each other. An annual retreat and monthly program meetings will help our scholars develop and plan their future goals. With one-on-one access to the Scholars Academy Program Coordinator, students will also receive assistance with their applications for the most prestigious scholarships available (Rhodes, Fulbright, McCall MacBain, SSHRC, NSERC, etc.), and the most in-demand professional and graduate programs.
With guidance as a critical component, our scholars will realize their potential, taking the University of Calgary name with them as they are led to even greater opportunities in the community and in their chosen field. It is this vision that Joanne Cuthbertson had in mind when she began this project in 2011.
