Leslie Reid was appointed vice-provost (teaching and learning) of the University of Calgary, effective Jan. 1, 2018 to June 30, 2023.
Leslie was the associate dean, teaching and learning, in the Faculty of Science, from 2012-2017. She has been with the University of Calgary since 2001, where she started as a graduate teaching fellow in the department of geoscience. Leslie played a leadership role in the development of the Eyes High strategy 2017-22, acting as co-chair of the Oversight Committee since 2016.
She has been awarded an Excellence in Educational Leadership Award from the University of Calgary, is a member of the Taylor Institute Teaching Academy and was a 3M National Teaching Fellow in 2011, the most prestigious teaching award in Canada. Leslie holds a BSc (with honours, Geology) from the University of Ottawa, a MSc (structural geology), and a PhD from the University of Calgary. Leslie is an accomplished leader and has made exceptional contributions to teaching and learning during her tenure at the University of Calgary.
