University of Alberta/Haskayne School of Business EMBA ranks in top 100 globally
The Financial Times of London has again ranked the Alberta/Haskayne Executive MBA (EMBA) program among the top 100 in the world, and this year, second in Canada for all-Canadian delivered programs. Jointly offered by the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, the program improved 18 spots from 2012 to #81.
When including Canadian and international partner programs, the Alberta/Haskayne EMBA places fifth in Canada behind Schulich (York)/Kellogg (Northwestern), Rotman (Toronto), Queen’s/Cornell, and Ivey (Western)/China, and ahead of Queen's.
“The quality of our program has put us consistently in the top 100 EMBA programs worldwide over the last decade,” says Vern Jones, Haskayne’s associate dean of graduate studies. “We continue to attract top business people, who use what they learn in the program to advance their organizations and their careers.”
"This is great news for Alberta,” adds Alberta School of Business dean Joseph Doucet. “Our unique co-operation between the province's two top business schools allows us to place Alberta as a leader in Canada in executive education, and to be internationally recognized as destination for a world-class MBA education."
From the student perspective: “Simply put, the EMBA experience has significantly prepared me with enhanced business insight and professional acumen to embrace new roles and responsibilities,” says Geoff McFarlane, vice-president and general manager of Calgary-based Corrpro Canada and a graduate of the Class of 2010—the class surveyed by the Financial Times. “The value was immediate as I began to think and assess differently. The network I now have and the community I am a part of as a result of this experience is invaluable.”
The Alberta/Haskayne EMBA is an intensive 20-month program offered to 100 students each year. Features of the program that differentiate it from many others include:
- An executive speakers series that provides students with direct access to Canada’s prominent business leaders
- An international study trip that gives students exposure to Canadian companies operating globally
- A personal and professional leadership development path which includes an executive coach available to all EMBA students.
