Campus focus groups begin to energize Eyes High
Riley Brandt, University of Calgary
EDITOR’S NOTE: The community consultation for Energizing Eyes High is now complete. Thank you to everyone in the campus community who took part.
Energizing Eyes High campus focus groups begin today and more than 221 students, faculty, staff, Board and Senate members have already registered to share their ideas on the future of your university. Don’t miss the opportunity to register for one of 20 campus focus groups. (Register for the table topic you are most interested in.)
Thank you to everyone who took time to participate this week, including the 61 students who won $10 Mac Hall food vouchers for participating in the online survey. Vouchers can be picked up in MLB 325 on Fridays.
More than 1,300 people have completed the online survey, many taking the time to provide thoughtful and detailed comments:
“I think that our scientific research focus is an excellent one, and appreciate how the federal government donation will enable us to spearhead more research into renewable technologies,” wrote one survey respondent.
“In light of recent big events (2013 floods, 2014 Brentwood murders, 2016 Fort Mac fires, every year's United Way campaigns) and so many smaller, but no less important events, UC has stepped up in a big way and served the community with pride and honour,” said another respondent.
Nearly 1,000 people have participated in the online polls over the past two weeks. Results, at right.

What happens next?
Feedback will help focus UCalgary priorities and impact funding decisions going forward. Once the consultation feedback is collected and analyzed, a refined strategic direction will move through our governance bodies — the General Faculties Council and the Board of Governors — before it is launched in spring 2017.
