UofC on the News: In Times Higher Education's Global University Sustainability Rankings 2020 for addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from ending hunger to promoting health and wellbeing to securing clean energy and water, UCalgary is ranked second among Canadian research institutions, 12th out of North American doctoral institutions, and 29th in the world. The ranking follows the Sustainability Tracking Assessment & Rating System, a university performance framework also known as STARS. The University of Calgary is also ranked 23rd out of 312 North American institutions by Sierra Cool Schools for their environmental commitment.
