Cal Wenzel is a champion for precision health at the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), who has supported a number of initiatives across the medical school dating back to 2010. The University of Calgary chose to rename the building to reflect his philanthropic commitment to precision health totalling more than $20 million in giving to the CSM. Learn more.
The CWPH is home to a number of UCalgary and Alberta Health Services spaces. This includes UCalgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Centre for Health Informatics and AHS’s Forzani & MacPhail Colon Cancer Screening Centre. Precision health is about finding the right treatment for the right person at the right time. This patient-focused approach is at the heart of what we do in this building, whether at the Cumming School of Medicine, in UCalgary’s Veterinary Medicine program or Alberta Health Services.
CWPH stands for the Cal Wenzel Precision Health Building. Formerly known as the Teaching, Research and Wellness Building (TRW) it was renamed in 2022 to honour the philanthropy of Cal Wenzel and the Cal Wenzel Family Foundation.

The change took effect with an announcement on May 25, 2022.
Any mail delivered to the University of Calgary mailroom will be routed to its destination, including mail indicating “TRW”.
Renaming takes time – it includes all wayfinding, parkade, as well as letterhead and other items. Please continue to use any paper stock (eg: letterhead) until it is depleted. Upon reorder, please use new name: Cal Wenzel Precision Health Building.

Please change any instances of TRW or Training, Research and Wellness Building to CWPH or Cal Wenzel Precision Health Building. The street address will stay the same.
- Phase 1 (current signage package) – Completed Summer 2022
- Phase 2 (AHS link areas to the Foothills, Misc signage not in public area or missed in Phase 1, signage reported by users in the building, etc.) – Scope of work has not been started, expected completion over Winter 2022/23.
CCC signage is a year out… so some signage will not be updated until 2023
After Winter 2023
The majority of directional signage will be completed over the Summer and into Fall 2022. If you notice something in the building with out-of-date (TRW) signage after that, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org or submit a work request in Archibus (please include a photo of the impacted area, if possible).
