How we look
UCalgary’s brand, design, and digital world
You know our brand. We’re the entrepreneurial university. A place to start something, build something, and change something. We’re here to define and enhance our brand so internal and external audiences alike have a consistent experience while continuing to reinforce what sets UCalgary apart. We have the creative team to help clients—from faculties to the Dinos—look their best. And, we have the marketing savvy to amplify our brand and your message, on-time and on-budget.
Because so much of what you do takes place in the digital world, we also help you create and present the best content. And we’ll work with you to ensure the people who view and use your digital material have the best user experience possible.
Telling our stories
Communications services gets the word (and pictures) out
Every day, there’s more stories to tell. From new inventions to celebrating the excellence of our scholars and students. And we’re here to help you tell them—providing writing support, e-marketing chops, event communications, compelling videos, engaging social media, and of course UToday, the go-to source for all the latest UCalgary news.
We also enable your outreach to the media to tell your stories to even more people. We provide the full gamut of communications to the Office of the Provost and portfolios that report to the VPs of Finance and Services. And we’re here to be your communications project managers. A one-stop-shop to make sure your event or product is connected to all the communications teams it needs for success.
Leading our engagement
Putting the community at the heart of what we do
Our goal is to be the university most connected with its community. The community engagement team works to deepen the already-strong partnerships we have—with not-for-profits, industry, and other institutions. We have dedicated resources for community partnerships as well as those with businesses. From the Stampede to Calgary Economic Development and more, we’ve got you covered, including a strategic events team to help deliver donor, alumni, and community events to engage even more.
We also support important bridges between the university and wider community like the Senate and Office of the Chancellor.
Communications Protocol
In 2022, the Executive Leadership Team and Deans endorsed the Communications Protocol, a framework that governs standards and processes for communicators across campus. It includes standard HR approaches for all communicators and explains who does what, what’s free of charge and what’s not, and the relationship between CCE and communicators located in—and accountable to—faculties and business units.
