BIOCOMPUTATION

Silicon based electronic circuit components and biological neurons have been successfully interfaced in recent years. These hybrid technologies make use of the two best information processing units in existence. On the one hand you can exploit the massively parallel processing of neuronal networks and on the other, the speed, talent for repetitive calculations and information storage capacity of computers. As technology for reading data out of neural networks improves, these interfaces could someday form the basis for the development of powerful bio-computational devices.
