David Holub


Biography

David M. Holub, B.Sc., J.D., LL.M. is a lawyer, mediator and conflict resolution trainer who received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Calgary. David obtained his legal education from Osgoode Hall Law School and his Masters Degree from the London School of Economics where he specialized in mediation.

Since his call to the Alberta bar in 1989 with the law firm of Code Hunter, David’s practice has focused on providing legal advice to energy companies including Shell Canada Limited, Talisman Energy Inc., Apache Canada Ltd. and most recently, Paramount Resources Ltd. He also led the Public and Government Affairs team at Apache which was responsible for community outreach, corporate events, stakeholder and media relations, brand management and communications strategy.

David has also been an instructor of numerous courses at institutions including the University of Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Calgary Board of Education. He currently provides training workshops in conflict resolution to organizations and within the Conflict Resolution Certificate Program at Mount Royal University, which has included custom training for the City of Calgary Police Service and the Bylaw Enforcement Department.

David is a mediator with the Provincial Court Civil Claims Mediation Program and serves as the President and Secretary-Treasurer at the In-House Counsel Network, a Calgary-based organization dedicated to enhancing the leadership skills, substantive knowledge and support of in-house legal counsel.

A volunteer with the Calgary Stampede for over 28 years, David has assisted the Western Showcase Art Auction, Blacksmith and Downtown Attractions committees. He has also worked with the Leighton Foundation, Better Business Bureau Dispute Settlement Centre, Community Mediation Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects, Calgary Food Bank, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Calgary Regional Arts Foundation, and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
