Research

Overview

Dr. Knudsen is a Professor and Head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. His research primarily focuses on the physics of the aurora, space plasma instrumentation, and space plasma physics. Dr. Knudsen also does research in aerospace areas on sounding rocket and satellite-based instrumentation. He works to measure the ionosphere and its interaction with the upper atmosphere and aurora. His research helps further the understanding of space weather in the near-Earth space environment.
