Overview
Dr. Salvatore Federico is a Professor in both the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, as well at the Centre of Bioengineering Research and Education. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Professor in the Human Performance Laboratory in the Faculty of Kinesiology. His research primarily focuses on continuum mechanics, which constitutes the basis of both solid and fluid mechanics as well as the biomechanics of biological tissues. He treats them as composite materials and develops models for their mechanical behaviour, starting from their microstructure. Dr. Federico’s strong interest and expertise in composite material modelling can be employed in several aerospace applications.
