Surviving the MDP
The Faculty of Environmental Design has received a Royal Bank Teaching
Development Grant to investigate ways in which we can enhance student
progress and success in designing, carrying out and defending their
Master's Degree Project.
We will have a more formal, focused process of gathering your views
early in 1996; however, we invite you informally to take a moment to write
us (anonymously if you wish) and tell us about your MDP experiences-the
good, the bad and the ugly. (We are especially interested in your stories
as we know current students are keen to learn from the "voice of
experience").
Please feel free to send us your views in any format. If you need a
place to start, some questions have been posed below.
- What kinds of problems did you encounter in the MDP process?
 - Did you find any support received particularly helpful in developing
or carrying out your MDP research or design? What forms and why?
 - What kinds of information, support or guidance do you think students
should receive to help reduce these kinds of problems?
 - What do you think would be the best way to convey or offer those
different types of information?
 - Any other comments you care to make concerning the MDP?

Farewell, EVDS Monitor...
For the last few years, Peter May (ES '92) and Mel Wilson
(ES '92) kept Intervention readers in stitches with the EVDS
Monitor.
The editorial staff of Intervention thanks them for their wit
and witticisms over the years.
The editors would appreciate it if someone or something would offer
their humour-writing services for future issues.
Thank you. We now return you to the newsletter.
