Asbestos Management Plan
The University of Calgary is committed to the protection of all personnel at university facilities from occupational hazards, including the potential health risks associated with exposure to airborne asbestos fibres. The university's Asbestos Management Plan(AMP) has been developed to actively manage all identified asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in university-owned facilities and activities which may disturb ACM including maintenance, renovation, demolition, or repair activities.
Disposal of Asbestos-containing Equipment
Departments with asbestos-containing equipment (e.g. heating plates, kilns, ovens, etc.) are responsible for disposing of these materials by completing a Supply Chain Management Equipment Disposal Request Form, followed by the submission of an ARCHIBUS work request. The cost for disposal of these materials is the responsibility of the department.
