Complementary Studies

1Students may request Department consent to substitute either Engineering 501 and 502, or Engineering 503 and 504 for Geomatics Engineering 500 if they meet the prerequisites for Geomatics Engineering 500.
2The complementary studies course Engineering 213, or Communications Studies 363, or Strategy and Global Management 217, is a co-requisite for Geomatics Engineering 401. Students must complete the course before or during the fall term of their third year.

Required Courses – Geomatics Engineering, Regular Program - Polytechnic Transfer Pathway
The program requirements listed below assume that students admitted to Geomatics Engineering via the Polytechnic Transfer Pathway have been granted transfer credit for Communications Studies 363, Geomatics Engineering 343, 351, 363, 421, 431 and 435, Mathematics 211 and 275. Students admitted without one or more of these transfer credits will be required to complete the corresponding course(s). All students admitted to Geomatics Engineering via the Polytechnic Transfer Pathway must also complete Digital Engineering 319 (or an equivalent course) prior to graduation or through transfer credit for prior studies.

The following Geomatics Engineering Required Courses are NOT required for this program:
Students who complete a BSc in Geomatics Engineering with a Concentration in Cadastral Surveying are eligible to obtain a Certificate of Completion of Academic Requirements for Professional Surveyors from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS). For more information about CBEPS and professional registration of land surveyors refer to their website: cbeps-cceag.ca.

Notes:
1. A 400-level or higher technical course from the Faculty of Science or another engineering department may be substituted for a technical elective with permission of the Head of the Department of Geomatics Engineering.
2. A combination of Digital Engineering 455, 456 and 457 can count as one technical elective course in the regular geomatics engineering program with the permission of the Head of the Department. This option is not available to students enrolled in the Digital Engineering minor. Students who complete Digital Engineering 455, 456 and 457 cannot receive permission to substitute another 400-level or higher technical course from the Faculty of Science or another engineering department for a geomatics technical elective.
3. Technical electives in the undergraduate program and all graduate courses are offered, in any academic year, at the discretion of the department.
4. Students who complete Geomatics Engineering 443 may request that Geomatics Engineering 451 be taken as a technical elective with permission of the Head of the Department.
