4.18.4 Minor and Concentration in Applied Energy Economics

Minor in Applied Energy Economics (available to non-Economics Majors).

Concentration in Applied Energy Economics (available only to Economics Majors).

Introduction

The program provides the historical and institutional background and the basic tools necessary for an understanding of the operation of North American and world energy markets, including development of analytical and problem-solving skills.

Requirements for the Minor in Applied Energy Economics

The Minor in Applied Energy Economics is regulated by the section of the Faculty of Arts Graduation Requirements entitled 3.3.3 Minor Programs.

Students must successfully complete 36 units from Courses Constituting the Field of Economics including the following:

  1. Required Courses: 27 units Economics 201, 203, 301, 303, 357, 359, 395, 427 and 493.
  2. Applied Energy Economics Options: 9 units from Economics 323, 328, 329, 377, 399*, 429, 457, 475, 477, 487, 499*, 527, 538, 599*.

*May be used when the topic is appropriate.

Requirements for the Concentration in Applied Energy Economics

This Concentration is available only to students pursuing a Degree in Economics. In addition to the requirements for the BA or Honours BA in Economics, students must meet the additional following requirements:

  1. Required Courses: 6 units Economics 427, 493.
  2. Applied Energy Economics Options: 18 units from Economics 323, 328, 329, 377, 399*, 429, 453, 457, 475, 477, 487, 495, 499*, 527, 538, 599*.
