An IFP Language Assessment is conducted in order to determine placement within the program.
A.
IFP Pathways
IFP Pathways students will not participate in the internal IFP placement testing.
B.
IFP Bridging
IFP Bridging students will be assessed by IFP at the beginning of their first term. Results from both internal IFP and external placement testing may be considered when placing IFP Bridging students into appropriate courses (Tiers 1-3). External assessments may include those listed in section A.11.1 in Admissions.
A language assessment must be completed prior to the start of scheduled classes. If unable to attend, students must notify IFP (ifp@ucalgary.ca) to schedule a late placement exam. Failure to notify IFP may result in cancellation of their acceptance into IFP Bridging.
IFP Bridging students who score below Tier 1 entry may be directed to other University of Calgary language programs until they meet the minimum Tier 1 proficiency in the IFP internal assessment.
