Welcome to the University of Calgary’s talented and diverse community of students, faculty, staff and alumni.
The University of Calgary is Canada’s leading next-generation university, and we are proud to offer an abundance of academic opportunities, extracurricular activities and athletics for you to explore. Our beautiful campus in northwest Calgary is the proud home to state-of-the art facilities like the Outdoor Centre, Olympic Oval, Taylor Family Digital Library and the award-winning Energy, Environment, Experiential Learning (EEEL) building; we also have four satellite campuses: Downtown, Foothills, Spy Hill and the University of Calgary in Qatar.
We are committed to providing a diverse environment that inspires discovery, creativity and innovation. At the start of the year, we encourage all of our students to get involved in campus activities – to participate in Orientation Week and the Common Reading Program, to embrace the numerous leadership opportunities available and to participate in community support activities like our annual United Way Campaign.
You are here to build a strong foundation for the rest of your life and we are dedicated to providing you with unique and challenging opportunities informed by rigorous scholarship, ethical leadership and engaged citizenship. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of programs offered through University of Calgary International (UCI) to study, volunteer or work overseas and broaden your perspective, adding depth and breadth to the teaching, learning and research on our campus.
The University of Calgary has set a goal – called Eyes High – which aims to capture and reflect Calgary’s energy, ambition and outlook; it defines our commitment to become one of Canada’s top five research universities by our 50th anniversary in 2016, grounded in innovative learning and teaching and fully integrated with the community of Calgary. There is palpable energy on campus as we approach this milestone anniversary; it is a truly exciting time to be at our university.
This past year, the University of Calgary was named the number one university in Canada under the age of 50 and ranked as one of the top ten young international universities. We are moving forward, building strong ties with our surrounding community, enriching our teaching and learning environment and creating new, leading-edge facilities like the new Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning.
The University of Calgary, like our students, is making the most of our potential: maximizing our research expertise, exercising our leadership ability and engaging with the dynamic environment of the enterprising city we call home.
Welcome to the University of Calgary!
