A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS
Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.
B. MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS AND NORMAL SEQUENCE
The BA in Dance requires the successful completion of the following program of study, which includes 66 to 93 units (11.0 to 15.5 full-course equivalents) in the Field of Dance:
First Year
Second Year
- Dance 305, 307, 331, 333, 341, and 363
- Kinesiology 259
- 6 units (1.0 full-course equivalent) from outside the Field of Fine Arts but within the Faculties of Arts, Kinesiology and Science
- 3 units (0.5 full-course equivalent) from outside the Field of Dance but within the Field of Fine Arts
Third Year
- Dance 391, 405, 407, and 491
- Dance 449 or 3 units (0.5 full-course equivalent) from outside of the Field of Dance but within the Field of Fine Arts (see note below)
- Dance 427 or 481 (see note below)
- 3 units (0.5 full-course equivalent) from outside the Field of Fine Arts but within the Faculties of Arts, Kinesiology and Science
- 6 units (1.0 full-course equivalent) in open options at the 300 level or above
- 3 units (0.5 full-course equivalent) in open options
Fourth Year
- Dance 427 or 481 (see note below)
- Dance 449 or 0.5 full-course equivalent) from outside the Field of Dance but within the Field of Fine Arts (see note below)
- 9 units (1.5 full-course equivalents) from outside the Field of Fine Arts but within the Faculties of Arts, Kinesiology and Science at the 300 level or above
- 9 units (1.5 full-course equivalents) in open options at the 300 level or above
- 6 units (1.0 full-course equivalent) in open options

- Dance 427, 449, and 481 are not offered every year. These courses are required without exception. Students must arrange their schedules to accommodate the alternating timetable.
- “Fine-Arts (non-Dance) options” can be chosen from courses in the Fields of Art, Drama, and Music; and courses labelled Fine Arts.
- “Arts/Science/Kinesiology options” can be chosen from courses offered by the Faculties of Arts, Science and Kinesiology with the exception of courses in the Fields of Art, Dance, Drama, and Music; and courses labelled Fine Arts.
