		Students with little or no knowledge of the Chinese language can begin in Chinese 205. Students with previous experience in Chinese should consult the Department to be placed in an appropriate course. Native speakers are not eligible to take language courses, but are eligible to take Chinese literature and culture courses such as 317, 355, 357, 431 and 461. In cases of doubt students should seek the advice of the Department.
