Summary
Are you between the ages of 14 and 24 and have Type 1 Diabetes? The goal this study is to create a sustainable virtual network of patients with type 1 diabetes to by serving as a community of support, identifying the research, care, and policy issues that matter to patients, and building a platform for action and empowerment.
We will create a virtual community of youth and young adults with type 1 diabetes with two specific aims:
(1) Build a virtual network of youth and young adults with type 1 diabetes through a website and Facebook page led by a national panel of patient representatives.
(2) Launch a movement to rename type 1 diabetes. Changing the name to a term like autoimmune diabetes or immune diabetes would draw attention to root causes and provide an opportunity to clarify for the general public as well as health care practitioners what the differences are between the two major types of diabetes.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 14 to 24
Inclusion criteria:
Between ages 14 and 24 with Type 1 Diabetes
Exclusion criteria:
Those who do not have type 1 diabetes
Not between the ages of 14 and 24
