Mathematics teacher education at the University of Calgary
Summary
This study aims to improve the different courses on mathematics education offered by the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary. The school of education offers several courses for teachers, both prospective and practicing, related to teaching mathematics. Lately, and in response to the Alberta Education focus on improving mathematics instruction at K to 12, the school of education has developed two 4-course topics at the Master's level, and one course joint with the Mathematics and Statistics Department at the undergraduate level. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of these courses on current and future teachers. The findings of the study would inform reviews of the courses related to mathematics education offered by the school of education.

Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 18 to 99
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
Undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Calgary enrolled in courses related to mathematics education: more specifically, in one or more of the following:
EDUC 305 Inside mathematics
EDUC 460 Specialization I (Mathematics)
EDUC 535 Specialization II (Mathematics)
EDUC 427 STEM Education
EDER 689.82 Learning Mathematics: Current Perspectives
EDER 689.87 Mathematical Knowledge for Teachers
EDER 689.83 Teaching Mathematics
EDER 689.88 Mathematics learning: Design and Implementation
EDER 689.99 Analytical and Algorithmic Reasoning
EDER 689.52 Data: What it means and how to handle it
EDER 689.05 Geometry in Nature, Art, and Computer Graphics
