How does your inner experience impact your cognitive functions?

Summary

The purpose of this study is to determine how your inner experience or thoughts associated with distinct brain patterns can explain their impact on cognitive functions. You will be invited to our laboratory for several testing sessions. In each session, you will go through a thought exercise that guides you through certain types of thoughts. Following the exercise, you will perform a computer task that presents you with some stimuli, to which you have to respond. These tasks measure certain types of cognitive functions, such as attention or memory.

During the study, we may record your eye movements using an eye tracker and/or record your brain activity by placing electrodes on your scalp. Finally, we may ask you to report your ongoing experience, as well as attention and mood levels in your daily life. The University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board has approved this research study.
