2022 - 2023 Impact Report

You make it happen

Entrepreneurialism is vital. It drives innovation, grows the economy, uncovers solutions to challenges large and small, and inspires the next generation. It’s at the heart of the University of Calgary, making us Canada’s entrepreneurial university — and we couldn’t have gotten here without our philanthropic community.

Philanthropy has enabled UCalgary to take the top spot as the No. 1 startup creator in Canada, three years running now, and helped us turn heads as the country’s youngest top research institution — earning us the largest federal grant ever awarded to an Alberta university to fund a revolutionary child-health research initiative. Our donors empower us as innovation leaders, setting the stage to turn our city and province into world leaders in areas like quantum computing, energy transition and brain science.

You’ve inspired us to aim higher, go further and challenge the status quo. And you’ve helped shape our campus into a more accessible and equitable place where students, scholars and researchers can reach their full potential and take our community even further.

Your investment boosts our university as a whole, so we celebrate these advancements and milestones with you. Thank you for your generous support!

Philanthropy has helped make UCalgary home to firsts and bests-in-class, including North America’s No. 1 sport-science school, Alberta’s first philanthropy-supported venture investment fund, a global leader in child-health research and a top-tier hub for quantum science. It all starts at UCalgary — and it starts with you.
