UCalgary continues to rank in Top 200 worldwide

U.S. News ranking based on academic research and reputation

U.S. News and World Report released the 2019 Best Global Universities, and the University of Calgary’s 2019 global rank is #178, improving five spots from #183 in 2018. Nationally, the University of Calgary’s rank remains unchanged at seventh.

The rankings were calculated using 13 indicators, including global and regional research reputation, publications, citations, and international collaborations. The University of Calgary’s publication and citation rank saw significant improvement in this ranking, as also seen in other major rankings released this year.

“Researchers at the University of Calgary are driving innovation and discovery, a key component of our Eyes High strategy and research plan,” says Dr. Ed McCauley, vice-president (research) at the University of Calgary. “The impact of our work is demonstrated in our gradual climb in several rankings including the Times Higher Education, Re$earch Infosource, and now the U.S. News and World Report.”

The U.S. News rankings allow students to compare universities around the world. Schools are evaluated based on their research performance and their ratings by members of the academic community around the world and within North America.

Universities from the U.S. and the United Kingdom occupied the top ranks in the list.

The overall 2019 Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,250 institutions spread across 75 countries.
