Professor published in Annual Review of Interdisciplinary Justice Research

Jonnette Watson Hamilton has published the paper "Reforming Residential Tenancy Law for Victims of Domestic Violence.”

In her recently published paper, "Reforming Residential Tenancy Law for Victims of Domestic Violence” (2019) 8 Annual Review of Interdisciplinary Justice Research 245-276, professor Jonnette Watson Hamilton analyzes recent Canadian legislative changes that made it easier for victims of domestic violence to leave their rental housing by allowing early termination of tenancies with minimal financial penalties. In addition to noting problems with some jurisdictions' early termination amendments, she argues that more reforms of residential tenancy law are needed before its structural barriers to leaving or staying safely are removed.
