Many Calgary neighbourhoods are great places to live while studying

Did you know all full-time UCalgary students have unlimited access to Calgary’s public transit system? It’s true! And you don’t need to do anything to join the UPass program – if you’re a full-time student, you’re automatically enrolled. You do, however, need to download the MyFare app to access UPass on your mobile device. For details on that process, follow these instructions.  

Your UPass will take you places

Aside from having unlimited access to transit via UPass, the best thing about Calgary’s public transportation system is that it’s so extensive. The system includes 169 bus routes, light rail trains (which locals call CTrains) that stop at 46 stations, community shuttle buses, and a shared door-to-door shuttle service for Calgarians with disabilities. UCalgary has its own CTrain station located on campus, which makes it that much easier to access the university.  

Want to drive and take transit? No problem! Many bus and CTrain stations have park and ride lots where you can park a vehicle and take transit to your destination.

Live where you want to live 

Unlimited access to public transit coupled with multiple transit routes servicing campus means there are tons of neighbourhoods you can live in and still have quick access to the university.

For even more useful information, download their Transit app to learn about trip lengths, transit options, and real-time arrival data. The app even tells you about other transportation options you can use on your journey, such as e-scooters and bikes.

Before you sign a lease agreement on a rental, be sure to access the Transit app. Find out how long it’ll take you to get to campus from your new home, and know which transit option(s) you’ll take to get here.
