Thank you so much for giving me this award! It is already helping me so much with tuition fees and my pursuit of sustainability studies. My plans after graduation are to continue working hard on sustainability every day and to find a career in that field to match with my goals. Thank you again for being a part of making this possible.

Thank you so much for this award. Having to deal with the aftermath of numerous cancer treatments in conjunction with medical school (which I began in July 2022) is a trying journey, to say the least, but I am so grateful to be here, and I feel so fortunate that I can focus more on my academics and my health and less on my finances, thanks to this award. My journey with cancer, along with my love for and fascination with the human body, brought me to medical school and I hope that, over the next couple of years (and with the help of your award), I will become an amazing doctor and serve humanity. I am now considered a patient with no evidence of disease, which I am so grateful to share with you. I am excited for what lies ahead, and I appreciate the support that you all have shown me through this award. Thank you for all that you do!

Thank you so much for the financial support you have provided! As a young father, the scholarship provided has helped lighten my load and allowed me to focus more fully on my studies.

Thank you so much for selecting me for this student award and for your donation, which has enabled me to pursue my medical education with decreased financial strain. As a first-generation immigrant to Canada, and as the first member in my family tree to pursue a career as a doctor, I experienced significant anxiety in being able to support myself financially over the course of my medical degree. Thanks to your kindness and support, I feel a significant sense of relief and I am motivated to work harder as a student, and a future doctor. Thank you also for the students you have helped before me, as well as the students you will help after me. I hope to follow in your footsteps and contribute to supporting students in pursuing medical education in the future.

Winning a prestige award at the U of C was nothing short of life-changing. Not only did it allow for my loved ones to see the fruits of my labour over the past four years, it gave me a chance to reflect on all that I had accomplished. It has helped me realize that I am capable of making a truly meaningful difference in the world and realize that maybe I’ve done something positive for another human being.

Thank you very much for your generosity. It is an honour to be chosen for the TD Bank Financial Group Undergraduate Medical Education Student Bursary. Having seen my family struggle with inaccessibility to health care in rural India, the promotion of health equity has been a personal mission of mine. I co-founded the Public Health Chapter in London, Ont., to advance human equity in access to global health systems for rural communities. I managed an interdisciplinary team of health-care professionals to establish clinical operations in Belleville, Moncton and Kawartha Lakes to assist communities [in meeting] their health goals. Navigating community health assessment and advocating to improve social determinants of health has opened my eyes to a path in making a meaningful contribution to my community. I hope to continue my impact on the community in a meaningful way. I sincerely appreciate the generosity of the donors, scholarship committee and University of Calgary for alleviating the financial burden with respect to my education.

I have been very lucky to pursue my post-secondary education from an undergraduate degree to a PhD and now my medical degree. This education has been a blessing, but does come with substantial financial strain. Receiving the TD Bank Financial Group Undergraduate Medical Education Student Bursaries has been an incredible gift, helping me to cover a large portion of my tuition for the year. This bursary relieves a lot of financial stress while allowing me to pursue my goal of applying my knowledge of developmental biology and research within a clinical setting through obtaining my MD. I am very grateful to have received this award.
