Collaborative Research and Outreach
One of the roles of the Centre for Environmental Design Research and Outreach is to help to create opportunities for collaborative research. The Centre is presently working on two projects that have potential dimensions to involve students and faculty.
Workbook on Planning for Sustainable Tourism at the Local Level I have been working with faculty. and students from Geography, Management and EVDS on developing a workbook on sustainable tourism. The workbook is in the final stages of development and will be tested at a course on sustainable tourism planning at the Banff Centre. Diana Hill will have a copy to peruse after 96.11.15. Planning Case Studies The Centre has produced seven planning case studies for the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Association of Canadian University Planning Programs. The complete case study package is available in the Centre at a cost of $3.00 each or $20.00 for the package. The case studies are available on the Centre's Web page. The Historical Resources Intern Program The Historical Resources Intern Program contract has been extended for another five years. In a time of budget cutbacks this is great news and guarantees the delivery of the Certificate in Heritage Resource Management. The majority of the courses will be offered by distance techniques and a brochure will be ready soon. Creating Sustainable and Healthy Rural Communities Proceedings In February 1966, EVDS and CEDRO co-sponsored a workshop on creating sustainable and healthy rural communities with the Canadian University Network on Rural Development (CUNORD). The proceedings from the workshop have been produced and are available at a cost of $30.00. A copy of the proceedings has been placed in the Resource Centre. Funding for Projects The Centre, through the assistance of two GAS students, is researching funding sources for faculty and student research and project work A draft document will be ready at the end of the Fall term. Database
The Centre's database will be on the Web shortly. The database contains a
large number of references. More news on this later. |
