Background Information

Board of Governors' approves amalgamation of the arts and social sciences faculties

On June 25, the Board of Governors of the University of Calgary passed the following motion:

"That the Board of Governors, on the recommendation of the Executive Committee, General Faculties Council and the University Planning Committee, approve the amalgamation of the Faculties of Communication and Culture, Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences into a single Faculty effective April 1, 2010. UPC further recommends to GFC that those engaged in the process of transition to a single Faculty pay due attention to the discussion of pertinent issues in the Plan for the Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Calgary, as set forth in Attachment 1 of the Agenda documents."
