Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB)

There are two Research Ethics Boards at the University of Calgary that are responsible for managing the ethics review process as it pertains to research work in the institution. The Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB) covers researchers in:

  • Communication and Culture
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Design
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Fine Arts
  • Haskayne School of Business
  • Humanities
  • Institutes associated with any of these faculties
  • Law
  • Science
  • Social Sciences
  • Social Work

While undertaking research, researchers may find that they need to make modifications to an existing or approved research protocol or report an adverse event that has occured as part of their research. Information on how to go about reporting these changes are found below.

Researchers will also need to provide annual and final reporting on their research - information which can also be found in this section.
