Graduate Programs

Newly admitted students to any other specialization within Civil Engineering will not be permitted to transfer to the Project Management specialization. 

THE  DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING REGISTRATION FORMS FOR THE FALL 2014 ENCI COURSES STARTING AUGUST 1, 2014.

You are required to complete a "Change of Course Registration" form.  Forms can be found on the Faculty of Graduate Studies website:  http://www.grad.ucalgary.ca/forms/registration

Seats are limited and students are admitted to Project Management Courses on a priority basis, as follows:

  1. In-program Project Management graduate students
  2. In-program Civil Engineering graduate students
  3. In-program Schulich School of Engineering graduate students outside of Civil Engineering
  4. In-program Haskayne graduate students
  5. Open Studies students

You must complete all the information required, have your supervisor approve (if you have not been assigned a supervisor yet, please leave this section blank) and then you can bring this completed form into the Civil Engineering Main Office (ENF 262). Once approved by the Director, it will be passed along to our Graduate Administrator who will authorize you with enrollment control. Once you receive an e-mail indicating this you will be able to register yourself in the course of your choice.

Master of Engineering (MEng)

 

Entrance Requirements
GPA of 3.00 or better in last two years of a bachelors degree.
580 (paper based) or 93 (Internet based) minimum TOEFL score complete with 4/5 essay.
CV to prove five years industry work experience.
Cover letter stating intention of study.

 

Program Requirements
10-12 half courses of which 6 must be from the approved Project Management Course list and the remaining must be from the Schulich School of Engineering.
Comprehensive final exam.
Must be completed within six years of initial registration; full or part-time.
A maximum of one-third of your courses (i.e. 3) may be at the 500 level.

Master of Science (MSc)

 

Entrance Requirements
GPA of 3.00 or better in the last two years of a bachelor's degree.
580 (paper based) or 93 (Internet based) minimum TOEFL score complete with 4/5 essay
CV to prove five years industry work experience.
Cover letter stating intention of study.

 

Program Requirements
Four-eight half courses (at least two at graduate level) and thesis.
Must be completed within four years of initial registration; full-time or part-time study.

Masters of Business Administration (MBA)

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

 

Entrance Requirements
3.5 GPA minimum requirement of your MSc degree and 3.0 GPA minimum requirement of your bachelor's degree.
580 (paper based) or 93 (Internet based) minimum TOEFL score complete with 4/5 essay.
CV to prove five years industry work experience.
Cover letter stating intention and research interests.

 

Program Requirements
Minimum of three years study and research beyond a bachelor's degree, two years study and research beyond a master's degree.
Must obtain credit in a minimum of five half courses after a bachelor's degree and two-six half courses after a masters degree (specific course requirements determined by students' supervisory committees).
Completion subject to successful research proposal, candidacy exam.
Dissertation.
Must be completed within four years of initial registration; full-time study.
