Calgary Pride 2016

Calgary Pride is a not-for-profit organization that exists to promote equality and acceptance of Calgary’s LGBTQA community. Calgary Pride features a variety of entertainment and charity events, with the Pride Parade and Pride Festival concluding the 10 days of activity. Calgary Pride Week occurs from Aug. 26 to Sept. 5, 2016. We invite everyone from the university community to join us.  Check out how the university was involved last year.

Calgary Pride Parade

Sept. 4 | 12 - 1:30 p.m. | 9th Ave SW

The University of Calgary is once again participating in the Calgary Pride Parade.  This year, there will be representation from nine faculties and many other department and student groups.  Students, staff, faculty, alumni and their family and friends are all welcome to join the university in the parade.

Pride In The Park

Sept. 4 | 12:30 - 6 p.m. | Shaw Millennium Park

Calgary Pride Festival has something for everyone; amazing local and out of town talent, food trucks, beer gardens, vendors and a family zone.  The University of Calgary is setting up a booth at the festival and welcomes everyone to stop by and visit! Guests have the opportunity to participate in the giveaway spin wheel, grab a selfie with #RainbowRex or take a few photos in the displays on showcase.

The Q Centre opened in 2010, providing a new resource for the LGBTQA communities on campus.  This new centre provides a safe space for those who need it while also offering resources, peer support and volunteer opportunities.

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Protected Disclosure (ODEPD) serves as a centralized resource to all members of the university community and provides training and awareness raising initiatives regarding issues of equity and diversity.

The Wellness Centre believes we all have a role to play in creating a healthy campus community. With a student-centered approach, they offer comprehensive, holistic and accessible programs and services to foster all dimensions of wellness.
