The Common Reading Program is an innovative program designed to welcome you to the University of Calgary community. Developed with students, the program will give you an opportunity to get a taste of academic life at the University of Calgary in a fun and engaging way. You won't find any grading here!
Every new undergraduate student to the University of Calgary will be provided with the common reading selection. The 2011 selection is Little Princes by Conor Grennan. Based on this selection, we will host an online Facebook forum where you can discuss the book with other new students.
Reflective Response Contest
As part of the Common Reading Program, you will be asked to participate in a reflective response contest. You will be able to submit your response in your own creative way. For example, you can submit a video, write a song or an essay, create a photo montage or a comic book. Winners will have a private dinner with Conor Grennan during Fall Orientation Week. The top two winners will win free textbooks for a semester. Learn more »
Meet the Author
During Fall Orientation Week, you will hear Conor Grennan speak at the New Student Induction ceremony and have the opportunity to get your book signed by him. You will also participate in group discussions about the book with your fellow peers.
Look for your copy of Little Princes in the mail in July.
