Mass Gathering Medicine (MGM) Calgary was established in February of 2012. It consists of medical students, residents, practicing physicians, health care professionals, and other volunteers who have an interest in providing healthcare and first aid at mass gathering events.

This group aims to attract interested participants and volunteers to the vast area of special event medicine and mass gathering medicine by providing opportunities for them to participate in pre-hospital care, research, leadership, and education in relation to large-scale community events, which are becoming increasingly popular. Meetings are held in the University of Calgary Health Sciences Centre to review the group's agenda and provide training in a specific skill set that is applicable to mass gathering events.
