Biorepository

The CCSC biorepository is a collection or bank of biospecimens, including blood, urine, stool and colon tissue (polyps, cancers and normal tissue), linked with clinical (medical) and epidemiological (colon cancer risk factor) information.

The purpose of the CCSC Biorepository is to support research on colon cancer and other bowel disorders.

The biorepository is funded as part of a CIHR Team Grant in Population-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening.

Samples from the biorepository would be made available to researchers for future studies including:

  • Rapid and efficient evaluation of new colon cancer screening technologies.
  • Development of new tests to detect colon cancer and other digestive diseases.
  • Research into the development of new products, such as tests and drugs.
