Research

Members of the Clark H. Smith Brain Tumor Center (Smith Center) are actively engaged in laboratory-based and clinical research in numerous areas of cancer biology. Some investigators focus on basic research questions concerning the initiation and progression of brain tumors. Other applied research programs are aimed at identifying and testing new clinical therapies and diagnostic techniques. Current areas of research emphasis also include non-invasive imaging-based diagnostic methods, the immunobiology of brain tumors, and brain tumor stem cell biology.
