Darlene Omstead

Biography: Darlene began working with the Population Health Intervention Research
Centre in January 2007 on a mutual practicum project with the Southern Alberta Child and Youth Health Network. She came on board at PHIRC full time in May after the completion of her practicum and will remain with the centre on a casual basis when school resumes in the fall. Darlene is working on a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Calgary and has an undergraduate degree in Behavioural Sciences.

Darlene’s previous work involved interventions with families in crisis and with high-risk youth populations.

Research Interests: Her professional interest is in promotion and prevention work for healthy families, as well as mental health, resiliency and grief in children.
