The Government of Alberta has appointed two new public members to the University of Calgary’s Board of Governors, effective Jan. 22, 2019 for a three-year term.

Nancy Foster is senior vice-president of human and corporate resources at Husky Energy. A Harvard graduate, she is an experienced human resources practitioner with extensive oil and gas experience, both domestically and internationally. Throughout her career, she has participated in a number of committees in her community including the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, the United Way of Calgary, the Alberta Economic Development Authority, among many others. She is also an active member of the International Women’s Forum.

Fauzia Lalani is an accomplished business and community leader with a passion for education and youth initiatives. Currently, she is a senior business leader working with Suncor Energy and previously served as vice-president in the technology and operations area at TELUS, and CEO of Aquila Canada. As a long-serving community leader both locally and nationally, Lalani is active in numerous community organizations supporting youth, education, health and wellness, and quality of life enhancement.

Foster and Lalani replace the vacant public member positions held previously by Firoz Talakshi and Steve Allan and we recognize those individuals for their service and leadership.

Members of the University of Calgary’s Board of Governors include public members, the president, chair, chancellor, as well as members nominated by the Faculty Association, General Faculties Council, AUPE, Students’ Union, Graduate Students’ Association, the Alumni Association and Senate.
