• This unit will focus on 'chronic illness' within the section of 'forensic practice/prevention'. Some of the main chronic illnesses will be addressed: AIDS, HIV, hepatitis, TB, diabetes, etc.

During completion of this unit on 'chronic illness' you will have the opportunity to:

• Investigate interventions for chronic illness in the prison setting.
• Discuss the historical/legal evolution of the AIDS/HIV epidemic.
• Investigate preventive/intervention practices for AIDS/HIV/Hepatitis/TB in the prison setting.
• Examine the legislation issues of mandatory testing, confidentiality, rights of public vs. patient as they apply to the AIDS/HIV population in the prison setting.
