Experiential Learning: What It Is, Why It Matters, and How You Already Support It
Presented by Erin Kaipainen, Senior Specialist, Experiential Learning
Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning
You've probably heard about experiential learning, but you might not know exactly what it is, why it's so important, and if and how you're already supporting it.
As we continue to develop and refine our advising philosophies, we want to look to one of UCalgary's highest priorities, experiential learning, to understand what it looks like across our different roles, and how it can guide and inform our advising philosophies.
After attending this session, participants will:
- Be familiar with experiential learning and UCalgary's experiential learning plan
- Recognize the importance of experiential learning and how their role supports it
- Be familiar with experiential learning resources and contacts
- Continue to craft and refine their personal advising philosophy
We would love to hear about your experiences crafting your advising philosophies so far, and there will be time to share and discuss during this session.
