After finishing your Winter term, switch gears to immerse yourself in learning about culture and community development in rural Costa Rica, global citizenship in Calgary, or Indigenous leadership and ways of knowing in the Yukon, while developing a new network of peers, committed to making a difference.

Culture & Community Development - Costa Rica

The Culture and Community Development program takes place on Chira Island, a small community with a growing environmental ethic. You will participate in various workshops with local co-operatives and work with the Montero and Palito Elementary School on a community-led project while developing relationship with local community members.

Indigenous Leadership and Engagement (Virtual)

Want to learn more about Indigenous history and cultures? ucalgarycares Indigenous Leadership and Engagement is one of our most popular co-curricular programs. UCalgary students will learn from Indigenous Elders and honour Indigenous peoples’ stories, knowledges, and traditions as well as gain a better understanding of the history and worldview of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
