We want you to feel inspired, engaged and empowered to act within your community. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or looking to get involved, we offer programs from one day service projects in Calgary to intensive explorations of social issues through ucalgarycares at home, in Toronto, Costa Rica and the Yukon.
Spring and Summer Programs
After finishing your Winter term, switch gears to immerse yourself in learning about culture and community development in rural Costa Rica, or Indigenous leadership and ways of knowing in the Yukon, while developing a new network of peers committed to making a difference.
Trick or Eat
Every Halloween, students and alumni get together in full costume and canvas the community for food bank donations. Sounds like fun, right? Come as an individual or as a team, and help those in need on this exciting holiday!
ucalgarycares Single Day Events
In September, new students have the chance to volunteer at a Day of Service or Night of Service after Fall Orientation. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and volunteer before becoming involved with our immersion programs. Placements fill up on a first-come, first-serve basis. As a part of Diversity Days, students also have the opportunity to participate in a Night of Service event in February.
Reading Week Programs
Spend your Reading Week learning about important social issues while working with community organizations in a meaningful way, and getting to know a team of your peers. We offer three distinct programs each February, in Calgary and Toronto.
