What's your next move?

The world of work is evolving rapidly, and so is how we collaborate and connect. This presents an exciting opportunity for students who are looking to make their next move, begin their job search and build their network. What skills will be in demand? Where will the next great prospects be?

At Career Services' Launch Your Career series, you can participate in three days of focused career conversations, skills development and exciting connections. Hear from local leaders and industry experts, grow your professional network and get the information you need to make your next big move.

May 10

10:30–11:15 a.m.

How do you make a successful transition from student to working professional?  This workshop will give you some practical steps to help you in your career journey. You'll have the opportunity to learn how to navigate challenges and embrace the unexpected as you design your next career moves.

11:15 a.m.–12 p.m.

Not sure if your next steps will be in Calgary... Alberta... Canada... or international? Calgary Economic Development will be highlighting the current state of opportunities in Calgary and where the city may be headed in the future.

Learn about the state of major industries in Calgary, including tourism and entertainment, life sciences, technology, agriculture, and energy.

12:30–1:30 p.m.

Some careers are a straight line; some are a zig-zag. New jobs may exist in the future that we never anticipated. A degree or major does not limit your career options to a specific sector or type of job. Hear from panellists who debunk entrenched career myths and be inspired by possibilities for your own career path.
No matter what path you end up on, you can find ways to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities from your degree toward new and exciting career pathways. This panel will introduce you to professionals who have made pivots in their own careers, utilized the skills they learned in a degree and gained more skillsets—they'll share their lessons and advice for how to navigate the shift.

1:45–2:45 p.m.

Not sure about the next steps in your career? Learn how life design can help you to envision possible career futures and generate actionable solutions to your concerns. Get ready to brainstorm in this interactive workshop and choose one idea to implement!

Connect with alumni, and employers, and career specialists. Practice your networking skills in a supportive and encouraging environment and build your network.
