Awards and Financial Assistance
Athletic Awards
General Information and Policies
The University of Calgary Student Awards and Financial Aid office, in consultation with the Department of Athletics, offers awards to student athletes participating on various varsity athletic teams. Student athletes may be eligible for other awards offered by the U of C and are encouraged to refer to the other award categories listed in the calendar or to the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.
- Eligibility: Students must be members of a U of C athletic team in the current Fall/Winter Terms. Students must have satisfactorily completed the previous Fall/Winter Terms with a minimum 2.00 grade point average on a full-time course load, unless the conditions state otherwise.
- Requirements: The payment of monetary awards, with the exception of certain prizes and graduating scholarships, is contingent upon the student maintaining full‑time status in the immediate Fall and Winter terms. Unless otherwise stated in the conditions, the recipient must be in actual full‑time attendance at the University of Calgary before receiving the awards. Payment of tuition and fees is the first charge against such awards. If the value of an award is stated as Atuition and fees,@ it is understood not to include differential fees. Supplemental, deferred and special deferred examinations or term work may affect eligibility for certain awards.
- Application: Coaches of the respective U of C athletic teams nominate student athletes for athletic awards.
- Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by letter in December.
- Note: Athletic Awards are offered annually and most are subject to C.I.S. regulations. For further information, students may contact the Director of Athletics, Faculty of Kinesiology.
