Welcome from the Students' Union

As an undergraduate student at the University of Calgary, you are automatically a member of the Students' Union. The purpose of the Students' Union is to provide services for students that would not otherwise be provided under the University's mandate, as well as to ensure that students' interests are represented at the University and at the civic, provincial and federal government levels.

Every February, undergraduate students at the University of Calgary elect 21 people to the Students' Legislative Council, the body that ensures students are being properly represented and served. Students also elect representatives from their respective faculties to sit on the Student Academic Assembly, which represents students' academic interests. The Students' Union is involved in everything from providing entertainment activities to political lobbying to offering academic advice and advocacy. The SU also manages MacEwan Student Centre as well as several businesses that cater to students, such as Bound and Copied, Stor, and the Den and Black Lounge.

One of the best ways to enrich your university experience is to become involved. This could mean anything from sitting on a committee, to volunteering time to help out with elections; to just letting us know what you think so that we may better represent you. We also run Volunteer Services which provides a number of other ways to become active, both on and off-campus.

For more information on the Students' Union refer to the Campus Life section of this Calendar, or better yet, drop by our office in MacEwan Student Centre, room 251, contact us at 220-6551, or check out our home page at:
