Biography

Supervisors: Dr. Linda E. Carlson & Dr. Tavis Campbell

Kirsti Toivonen completed her HBA at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON. For the past five years she traded the lakes for the mountains to study clinical psychology at the University of Calgary. She received her MSc in 2017 and is currently finishing her dissertation.

Kirsti is broadly interested in behavioural medicine with a special interest in psychosocial oncology. She also has interests in adherence, sexual health, and intervention development, which she has been able to explore through research collaborations. She would love to develop a research program dedicated to improving the well-being of individuals with chronic illness.

Kirsti is currently a clinical psychology resident at the Northern Ontario Psychology Internship Consortium in her hometown of Thunder Bay. In her spare time she enjoys reading, art, listening to music, and weightlifting. She also looks forward to being able to travel again someday in a post-COVID world!
