Biography

About Me

Dr Devesh Oberoi, PhD is a CIHR-SPOR TRACTION postdoctoral fellow in Carlson lab. at the University of Calgary, Canada. He obtained his medical degree from Manipal University, India and his doctoral degree from Curtin University, Australia. Prior to joining the Carlson lab, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Behavioral Research in Cancer, Cancer Council Victoria, Melbourne, Australia.

Devesh is a population health researcher, with research interests in psycho-oncology, public health, and epidemiology, and statistical modeling focusing primarily on patient engagement, patient reported health outcomes and behavioral clinical trials. He specializes in mixed-methods research and has also been involved in program evaluation of health systems. His international research experience also includes working on various public health projects in India at Institutes of National Importance and an editorial internship at The Lancet, UK. Apart from research, he enjoys managing mid to large scale research projects and health programs, working across inter disciplinary teams , as well as mentoring junior researchers and students. Devesh’s overarching goal is to use his research experience and his passion for program management to create an environment that facilitates improved population health outcomes. Outside of research, his hobbies include travelling and photography. He has quite a travel bug. Besides, Canada and India, he has lived in Australia, and  has travelled to UK, United States, and Asia.
